Words for a Grandchild to know

When my daughter and grandchildren came to live with me, one child had finished Kindergarten and the younger one was just going to start. I desired them to think journaling was a natural thing to do. So every morning and every night I would be in bed journaling. Before they moved into my home, I found a couple of empty page, children's hard back books and decided to fill them up with the first words I desired them to read. I was learning calligraphy at that time, so that is what I used. As I look back at the books, I was just starting to learn calligraphy and the little ones didn't noticed my mastakes.

I found that they loved to read it to me. I gave them colored jell pens to decorate the books; this gave them ownership while I read stories from my journals. Soon they were copying the words and filling the pages with the above words. If they remembered a dream, I would write it in between the words I wrote in the big font. This now became their first of many journals.

I knew if I had had these words in my life when I was smaller, I would have had an easier ride in life.

I Desire a child to have words to reach for. The sayings I was brought up with, lead my in a different direction. We will not go into those words, they did not serve me and I will not put them into your memory. As I grew up I bought into them and believed they were true. They were not!! We all have been there. What words would serve your children?

Did I say that three grandchildren learned to read this book within three days. I believe it was because they knew every word was true for them. Create one for a little ones.
